SO, YOU HAVE DECIDED TO HAVE A CAT? REMEMBER THAT THE CAT WILL STAY AT YOUR HOME FOR A LONG TIME, FOR THE REST OF ITS OWN LIFE.
If you wish to have joy and positive emotions out of the stay of the cat at your home, you should be guided by the following rules before the adoption of a pet:
- You should have the consent of all the members of the family and make sure nobody has pet hair allergy.
- You need to have free time for taking care of and playing with the pets.
- You need to have means for feeding and treating the pets.
- You have to make sure if there is enough space for the pet in your dwelling.
Having considered all the PRO-s and CON-s you were convinced that you want to have a cat.
Usually, kittens are ready to go to a new home at the age of three or four months (it depends on the destination country).
It would be better to take the kitten along with you on an early morning of a day off in order to give the animal enough time to acclimatize in a new location with the presence of its host, to get used to the new sounds and smells. Within the first days the kitten will miss its mother and siblings, it will start mewing and looking for them. It might find a secret hiding place and shelter there for some time. In order to make it easier for the tiny thing to adapt in its new home it would be better to set limits to its area of stay, e.g. closing it up in one room. You should equip a cosy patch for it by setting there bowls for food and water and also a food store. In case the kitten does not contact, leave it alone. In some time it will come out of its hiding place.
- Ensure peace for the kitten for the first days. Do not invite friends over – a crowd and a loud noise may frighten the kitten.
- In case there is a toddler (aged 3 – 5) at home, it might consider the kitten to be a toy. That is why children’s relations with pets have to be observed and, if possible, not to leave them alone with pets without adult supervision.
- Having a kitten at home develops love and compassion of children toward animals. Children have to be taught how to communicate with animals, this offers great joy both to the children and to you!
- We hope that this information will help you at making a choice!
When acquiring kittens you will have good advice from our cat kennel on the care and breeding of these exquisite furry animals!
